Understand the difference between paying privately and seeking Michigan Home Help support.

Starting with private pay

Call with your county, the daily tasks you need help with, your preferred schedule, and the best person to contact. We’ll discuss availability, costs, and service arrangements before you commit.

Private payment does not establish Medicaid eligibility or guarantee reimbursement.

Understanding Home Help

Michigan Home Help supports eligible Medicaid fee-for-service beneficiaries who need physical assistance with at least one activity of daily living. An MDHHS adult services worker assesses needs and determines the tasks and time that may be authorized.

Household help alone does not establish eligibility. Contact your local MDHHS adult services office to apply or ask about your circumstances.

What to prepare

Write down the hands-on help needed with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, transfers, or movement inside the home. Note household needs and existing support too.

Ask MDHHS about the DHS-390 application and MDHHS-6200 medical needs certification. Keep personal records for your assessment; send only general questions by email.

What Home Help does not cover

Home Help does not pay for supervision, reminders or prompting alone, transportation, heavy cleaning, repairs, or yard work. Companionship, recreation, and respite are not advertised here as covered Home Help services.

Coverage in other programs can differ. Ask the adult services worker about the correct program and authorized tasks.

Approved Michigan Home Help agency: Pure Comfort is approved to participate as a Home Help agency. Each client’s eligibility, covered tasks, and authorized service time are determined separately by MDHHS. Contact us to discuss care and availability.

For social workers, discharge planners, community partners, and caregivers: begin with a general inquiry so we can confirm scope, availability, and payment arrangements.

Discuss a referral ↗

Referrals and care transitions

Have the client’s consent before sharing information. Start with county, general assistance needs, anticipated schedule, and a contact number. Call before sending records so we can arrange an appropriate way to receive them.

A referral does not confirm acceptance, staffing, a start date, or Medicaid coverage. Do not email medical records or Medicaid numbers through the general contact link.

Home Help authorization

When a client selects Pure Comfort as their Home Help agency, the client must notify their MDHHS adult services worker. The worker must meet with the client and an authorized agency representative or assigned caregiver before authorizing agency payment.

An agency’s approval and each client’s authorization are separate requirements. An owner’s individual caregiver enrollment is also distinct from agency enrollment.

Caregiver and agency requirements

Caregivers require approved CHAMPS enrollment and required screening for payment. Agency caregivers must have the appropriate agency association. Work must stay within the client’s authorization and the caregiver’s capabilities.

Caregiver applicants can call about opportunities; an inquiry is not a job offer or enrollment approval.

Visit records and service limits

Michigan requires agency EVV reporting where applicable, plus current service verification and the MSA-1904 agency invoice. EVV alone does not replace billing documentation or authorization.

Pure Comfort does not advertise skilled nursing or complex medical tasks. Ask us to confirm any requested task before making care arrangements.

A little clarity

Questions families ask.

Care is personal. We’re here to help you understand your options.

Ask us a question
What kind of care do you provide?

Hands-on personal care and help with household tasks, subject to individual needs, staff capabilities, and availability. Home Help payment requires state approval and a beneficiary-specific authorization. Companionship alone is not a covered Home Help service.

Can I arrange care for a family member?

Yes. You can begin the conversation on behalf of a loved one. Their preferences, consent, and care needs will guide the next steps.

How much does care cost?

Contact Pure Comfort for private-pay pricing based on the services and schedule you need. Rates and arrangements should be confirmed before care begins.

Do you accept Medicaid Home Help?

Yes. Pure Comfort is an approved Michigan Home Help agency. Each client’s Medicaid eligibility and MDHHS service authorization must be confirmed before Medicaid-funded care begins. Call to discuss your authorized needs and caregiver availability. Private-pay services are discussed separately.

How soon can care begin?

Start dates depend on your location, support needs, and caregiver availability. Call to discuss current scheduling options.
